May 19, 2013 I just purchased a new 23' AOC monitor to 'clamshell' with my macbook. I have purchased the appropriate cables to connect with my macbook to discover that the monitor software doesnt have a mac driver and the AOC website says to download a Mac Plug and Play driver to work with the monitor.

It's graphics are great for static viewing and working in productivity apps. I use mine for financial pursuits, and anytime I need to look at data from one program and comparing or cut and paste to another allowing both windows to stay in sight. Never used two? Truy a time saver and you will not go back.
Yes it will power up from the primary USB plug and nothing else. I didnt want a power adapter to add to the mix.
This fits the bill and is a great compliment to my primary laptop screen. Nice case too fits right in my bag with my machine. Rated 4 out of 5 by More displays please from Great second monitor! I've been using this monitor for a few weeks now as a second monitor for my laptop. I mainly use an extended display so I can see multiple applications at once, although the other day when a projector failed during a meeting, I was able to easily convert it into a (small) display for a group to see (sweet!). I love the portability of it and how easy it is to get going.
On initial set up, it wasn't exactly plug and play - I had to uninstall some other drivers I wasn't using that conflicted (and the help I was pointed to described how to do this well). After that initial hiccup, it's been great. I have read other reviews that say they always need to use both USB jacks for adequate power, and I would estimate I have only had to do this about 5% of the time.
If you are looking for a portable monitor and not a lot of money, I recommend this product. Rated 5 out of 5 by Ken T in FL from Met my expectations and more First, the product arrived on time. That beat out the @ reseller I tried to purchase this monitor from who said that they had shipped when in fact they were out-of-stock. Next, the purchase price was $ less than my previous attempt to purchase this item. My laptop's 3.0 USB drivers had to be updated, but the monitor's install software notified me of the driver issue.
So no need to jump through any support hoops. I've been using the monitor in my travels for a week or two, so no DOA related warranty problems.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Mies from Works well Works well with my MacBook Pro Retina-- the displaylink drivers are easy to download and install. The screen then functions just like a second monitor through the USB port. At my office I can use a secondary display through the Thunderbolt port and this Aoc display as a third screen. The colors cannot be adjusted (calibration is not possible) and are not great. It works well as a screen on which to put palettes while using the main screen for actual work. Portable and quite light-- fits in my bag next to my laptop. There is sometimes a small lag.
I recently purchased photoshop CS6 for Mac. I am using a Sony A6000, which should be supported for RAW files ( Cameras supported by Camera Raw ). However, when I try to open the.ARW file I get a 'Photoshop cannot open this file' window. Rather than going straight to Photoshop, raw files first open in Adobe Camera Raw. Camera Raw is a separate plug-in included with Photoshop that launches automatically whenever we open a raw file. It's decent enough clarity, not super high end imaging, very light in weight, could fit in a larger laptop case. Priced well for whats out there. One caveat is if your using a laptop or desktop that's locked down meaning you need Administrator rights to add software to your device, the driver needed to use this monitor will need to be installed so you will need some rights to install software. When you plug in the USB, it will automatically install the driver. I purchased this monitor for my wife, but in her case she had to call her companies Helpdesk to give her rights to install software.
