Synology Notes App For Mac
Best Note Apps for Mac #1. Despite the cut-throat competition, “Evernote” remains one of the most appreciable note-taking apps both for macOS and iOS. The highlight of this app is the wide range of tools that provide more flexibility. A reader has just challenged me to re-think the software I use for academic work on Mac. Well, there are over 250 items in my Applications folder, but how many do I need to remain productive? So imagine that I have a completely new Mac with no software (except OS and its standard apps).
Synology has a relatively perfect 'desktop' called DSM. So far all the so called 'desktop applications' are mainly just simple webbrowsers in disguise to said desktop. I even made a few myself using the 'Fluid' app, which makes 'apps' that look exactly like the ones provided by Synology. Personally I don't need any Desktop apps. Of course it would be nice if there were some, but I rather see them spent their time making current DSM apps functional and KEEP them functional instead of ditching existing apps for new ones nobody asked for and start the entire bug 'n' error crapfest from the beginning again. Like 'Moments', really? [Please control your language] is that all about?
I can't even navigate my perfectly fine folder structure using this app! It is tossing all my photographs about and collecting people in people folders, subjects in subject folder, sorting stuff by date and location? What if I just want to view all the photos from a freakin' party last year that are all stored in a folder called 'freakin' party last year'???
No way to do that. Tue May 22, 2018 6:22 pm Synology has a relatively perfect 'desktop' called DSM. Go to my pc viewer for mac. Select timeline view mode and choose by day or by month. You can scroll through all photos by the date. Mon Aug 27, 2018 2:08 pm One thing that's not perfect with DSM is that auto-uploads from Photos on my Mac don't happen like they do from my iPhone.
Yes, if I'm using iCloud Photo Library then the two are in sync and whatever I put on my Mac will sync to my iPhone and *then* be uploaded to Moments. Isn't the point of using Synology/DSM/Moments to avoid having to pay for a service like iCloud Photo Library?
If so, then a background uploader/syncer for Desktop would seem necessary. You can sync to Moments folder with Drive. Certainly you could sync the Masters folder, but doing that bidirectionally and populating that folder inside a package on your Mac seems like a recipe for disaster to me.
